HUBIG'S Famous Hone-Fruit Pies, 100% Pure, Rich as Gold and Sweet as honey have been a New Orleans favorite since 1922. This wonderful turnover-style pie has Savory Simon as its mascot and is prominently featured on the packaging and advertising for the pies. This factory was continually in business until Hurricane Katrina and after Katrina the factory re-opened four months later, producing 20,000 pies a day. In July 2012, a fire broke out at the bakery and destroyed the factory and to date it has remained unopened. There continues to be much speculation by the NOLA faithful as to when this mighty pie might be available again.
